ANTHROPOZÄNTA 2024

ANTHROPOZÄNTA ist ein Residenz- und Ausstellungsformat zeitgenössischer Kunst, welches sich mit den vielfältigen Erscheinungen, Verbindungen und Konsequenzen nicht-menschlichen und menschlichen Daseins auseinandersetzt. Auf der Grundlage der während ihres Aufenthalts im Juli durchgeführten Recherchen entwickeln vier internationale Künstler*innen Werke, die auf die Region und ihre soziopolitische, wirtschaftliche und ökologische Geschichte sowie ihre Einbettung in den globalen Kontext eingehen. Dabei versteht sich ANTHROPOZÄNTA als offenes Format, welches Diskurs, Begegnung, Vernetzung und Gemeinschaft fördern möchte sowie kostenlos und für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. Für vier Wochen wird eines der zahlreichen leerstehenden Ladenlokale in der Innenstadt temporär mit multimedialen künstlerischen Arbeiten sowie Veranstaltungen wie Workshops, Vorträgen und Diskussionsrunden belebt.

Organisationsteam und künstlerische Leitung sind Sophie Innmann und Daniel Vollmond, die beide in der Region aufgewachsen sind.

Tita Salina & Irwan Ahmett
Das indonesische Küntler*innenduo arbeitet recherchebasiert und community-orientiert. Mit ihren Performances, Videoarbeiten oder Eingriffen in den öffentlichen Raum wollen Irwan Ahmett und Tita Salina Antworten auf die globalen Ängste in Bezug auf die menschliche Existenz finden und durch Kunst Wissen über Ungerechtigkeit, Menschlichkeit und Ökologie schaffen. In Hof zeigen sie die Performance mind collision, in der, gleich tektonischer Platten, Menschen und Artefakte aufeinanderprallen und dadurch Möglichkeiten eines Neuanfangs ausgelotet werden.

Kriz Olbricht
Die Arbeiten von Kriz Olbricht verhandeln das Verhältnis von Mensch und Raum. Seine Beobachtungen setzt Kriz Olbricht in inhaltlich verdichteten und formal reduzierten Installationen und Objekten ins Bild. Ein wichtiger Teil des in Köln lebenden Künstlers ist das gemeinschaftliche Arbeiten in Projekträumen sowie das Konzipieren von ortsspezifischen Ausstellungsprojekten.

Petter Yxell
Petter Yxell‘s Praxis verbindet die Erforschung von Architektur und Urbanisierung mit einem ausgeprägten Interesse an Ökologie und Biologie. Er lotet die Grenzen dessen aus, was als gebaute Umwelt verstanden wird. Seine Arbeit erweitert den Begriff der Architektur, indem sie alle Bauprozesse als ökologisch verflochten und die gebaute Umwelt als eine artenübergreifende Errungenschaft anerkennt. Neben posthumanistischen Theorien bilden Zeit- und Geschichtsphilosophien die konzeptionelle Grundlage für seine Arbeit.

ANTHROPOZÄNTA 2024

ANTHROPOZÄNTA is an artist-run residency and exhibition format for contemporary art that showcases the manifold appearances, connections and
consequences of both human and non-human existence. Based on the research conducted during their residency in July, international artists develop works that respond to the region and its socio-political, economic, and environmental histories aswell as its embedding into a global context. As an open format, ANTHROPOZÄNTA aims to promote discourse, encounters, and community. For one month, an empty commercial space in the middle of the city centre, will become the central contact point for meetings, discussions, and exchanges that are free and open to the general public.

ANTHROPOZÄNTA 2024 is organized by the artists Sophie Innmann and Daniel Vollmond, who both grew up in the area.

Tita Salina & Irwan Ahmett

The Indonesian artist duo works in a research-based and community-oriented way. With their performances, video works and interventions in public space, Irwan Ahmett and Tita Salina want to find answers to global fears about human existence and create knowledge about injustice, humanity and ecology through art. In Hof, they are showing the performance mind collision, in which, like tectonic plates, people and artifacts collide and the possibilities of a new beginning are explored.

Kriz Olbricht

Kriz Olbricht’s works deal with the relationship between people and space. He presents his observations in installations and objects that are condensed in terms of content and reduced in form. An important part of the Cologne-based artist’s work is collaborative work in project spaces and the conception of site-specific exhibition projects.

Petter Yxell

Petter Yxell’s practice combines the exploration of architecture and urbanization with a keen interest in ecology and biology. He explores the boundaries of what is understood as the built environment. His work expands the concept of architecture by recognizing all building processes as ecologically intertwined and the built environment as a cross-species achievement. Alongside post-humanist theories, philosophies of time and history form the conceptual basis for his work.
